Moonlight cast from the waning twin moons of Aelvir and Rianys patterned mottled shadows on the garden grounds, creating playful sparkles from crystal droplets that escaped the mighty canyon side falls. Two figures stood alone amongst the night-kissed flora, petals closed in tight, withered twists to await the next dawn. But the beauty was lost to the white-garbed women, their expressions bearing a grim tautness that alluded to the severity of their mission.
The first was tall and dignified, holding herself with the relaxed ease of a practiced fighter. Her body was slender, with gentle, but definite curves and broad shoulders. She was attractive but ambiguous: her face and voice rocked the edge between a man and a woman's, charming, beautiful, and handsome all at once. Her features were smooth, with narrow, slanting eyes and a thin-lipped mouth hinted with subtle humor in spite of her concerned expression. Dark hair, almost waist-length, fell in a loose curtain across her back, framing her face with a fringe parted slightly over one eye. A metal-plated band, burnished gold even in the silver light of the moons, shone from her forehead, matching a pair of small hoops dangling from her ears. White and deep crimson formed the contrasting motif of her long tunic and fork-tailed cape, harmonizing, but not quite matching with the outfit the woman beside her wore.
Her partner, more petite, was equally eye-catching. Luxuriously thick, wavy hair spilled down her shoulders and back, a rich earth-brown that reflected red or gold in the sunlight. She was well-formed in comparison to her more masculine companion, with a youthful, heart-shaped face and large teal eyes that reflected the sea. Just above her white-gloved hands floated a series of aquamarine crystals, glowing lightly as they whirled around a still centerpiece. Her uniform tunic was white as well, but bearing a teal green motif as opposed to her partner's red, substituting cape for shawl and belt for sash. She, too, wore a golden band about her brow, proclaiming her position as a Guardian.
A cooling breeze rushed through the canyon, fluttering leaves as it passed by, carrying the humid scent of river water and damp rock. The raven-haired Guardian moved only slightly in response to the zephyr, eyes closed briefly as she attuned herself with the wind. As the canyon naturally trapped winds, the flow was clear and direct - an easy read. "Eluna," she uttered, turning at a rustle of foliage.

"We've come to this again. Or has it already passed?"
The tall woman emerged into the moonlight, joining her companions under the watchful eyes of the Moon Goddesses. Silver light poured down her body, revealing an outfit similar to the other two. A long surcoat over leggings and sleeveless tunic, with long gloves and a cape that matched the others. Her white-blonde hair was plaited into three braids. Starfire glimmered along the curve of her glaive, the long, elegant polearm resting comfortably in her hand.
A smile touched her lips. She talked in riddles sometimes, but her comrades were used to that. Speaking more straightforward, she indicated the crystals in the waterweaver's hands. "Any glimpse of the enemy? I have a report from the Corridor. Someone has trespassed in the shattered worlds, but I couldn't find them."
"Oh...and I think tonight's stew had too much pepper in it. Maybe tone it down and use keio spice instead?"

Wavy-tressed Aquilphe gave a quiet sigh, allowing the Tears to fall with gentle clinks into her cupped hands. Deprived of her power, they were now little more than pretty matching stones. "Nothing substantial," she replied, a little weary from delving. Visions and Dreams came easily enough to the oracle, but running through time to search for the answer was both time- and energy-consuming. Her Sight had proven nothing yet again. Nothing, that was, save for a glittering shard balanced against milky darkness.
A second sigh escaped from her lips, and dark-haired Stralim reached out to steady her tiring partner. "Tresspassers?" Her brows knitted, lips drawn in a thin line that prescribed more intensity than even the most severe frown, ignoring the comment on the stew. "Then they've realized it." Her gloved grip tightened on Aquilphe's arm, causing the brunette to wince. The breeze seemed to whistle violently against the crashing falls, as if attuned to their Guardian's mood.
"But they have not located the Shard," she added quickly, hoping to ease the woman's temper. "It's still as it is. They're still searching, and so should we." Another squeeze. She winced again. "Mh... Stralim..."
"Sorry." Her hold loosened almost immediately, genuinely apologetic. The mage gave a huff, venting her frustration via eye-contact with a night-blooming waterlily. It petals trembled in the wind, as if in response to her dark glare. "What else can we do but search? What if the Shard isn't in the city at all? Wouldn't all of this be fruitless? Surely the enemy has forces elsewhere, searching even while we're speaking."
